Doctor of Philosophy Degree
The Doctor of Philosophy Degree program focuses on the challenging issues and problems confronting planning professionals and scholars in the rebuilding of urban communities in the nation. The program consists of an interdisciplinary curriculum of 36 credit hours of course work and provides learning opportunities that develop the intellectual qualities necessary for meeting the challegges associated with urban growth and development. It has a special focus on Community Development and Housing, Environment and Land Use, Urban Design and an agenda for increasing the number of underrepresented groups in the planning profession, especially in the realm of university faculties and research institutes.
March 1 is the deadline for Doctoral Applications. Students for this program are admitted only during the fall.
All applicants must be cleared through graduate school admission.
Potential candidates need to send the followinging information directly to the department:
- Statement of purpose
- Copies of transcripts
- GRE scores (less than 5 years old) or TOFEL score for international students
- 3 Letters of recommendation along with 3 evaluation forms
